Diagnostic Hearing Evaluations

The first step toward treating hearing loss is a diagnostic hearing evaluation. Our hearing tests include a complete, non-invasive assessment of your hearing using state-of-the-art equipment. Our tests are designed to assess the exact type and degree of hearing loss which allows us to tailor treatment to suit your needs. The exam consists of several steps to assess the specific characteristics of your hearing impairment and the extent of your speech comprehension.

The diagnostic process starts with asking about and understanding your health history, concerns you have, symptoms you’ve been experiencing, and general lifestyle. We will then proceed with the hearing examination. This involves going into a soundproof booth, wearing headphones while we play a bank of sounds at various pitches and volumes, and using a push-button remote to indicate what you can hear. Your results are collected in real-time and if hearing loss is revealed,  the specifics of your results will be used to base the diagnosis. We can then proceed to recommend hearing treatment.

Hearing Aid Services

Hearing aids are the most common treatment for hearing loss. Our practice offers several services that identify, program, and maintain your device so that it meets your hearing needs optimally. We take the time to get to know your hearing and lifestyle needs to recommend hearing aids that would easily integrate into your daily life and provide maximum hearing support.

In addition to helping you navigate your hearing aid options, we also program your device so that the settings perfectly meet your hearing needs. We start this process during your hearing aid fitting. We then bring you in every week for 4 weeks (more if needed) for follow-up appointments to continue to get your hearing aids exactly where they need to be. Once you are where you need to be, we bring you in once every three months for cleaning/maintaining services.

Our practice offers continued hearing aid support by providing in-house hearing aid repair services as well. Even with routine care, hearing aids will gradually wear out due to everyday use. Any minor repairs to hearing aids can be completed quickly in our office, depending on the issue your hearing aid is experiencing. Others would need to be sent for repair to the manufacturer, which upon request a loner aid can be provided. Prices can vary depending on the nature of the repair, whether your unit requires replacement parts and whether you are still under warranty.
